AC Allies is open to students, faculty, alumni and parents who wish to participate in a forum which explores and discusses issues related to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) issues. The group is composed of both GLBT and straight people who work to dismantle intolerance and oppression as called upon by The Catechism of the Catholic Church which extols Christians to “accept (GLB people) with respect and sensitivity” affirms that “every sign of unjust discrimination in that regard should be avoided” (Catechism #2358). The group sponsors social events on-campus and with Consortium colleges, lectures by noted GLB speakers, community service projects and Diversity Awareness Week. It also provides needed support and affirmation to GLB students. Because it is open to all members of the campus community confidentiality is not assured, but members are never asked to identify their sexual orientation. “Outing” is considered contrary to the spirit of the group.
AC Allies meetings are always
open to everyone and usually held every other week. Check the link below "Club
Meeting and Events" for details on upcoming meetings and club events.
