RESIDENTS OF THE MONTH

John Staffier
I nominate John Staffier to be the resident of the month because he is a large assest to the building. He always offers to help and has a great attitude. He lended a big helping hand during a fire drill in which only two RAs were present in the building and some extra help was needed to get residents away from the building.

Rory Harrity
Rory lives in 6R and has many responsibilities here on Campus. He is a fierce, extremely talented member of the Chapel Choir. He really boosts up the sound of the Tenor section. As a member of the ODK Honors Society, Rory has recently put a smile on many children's faces during the annual Halloween Party. He also participates in the TOP-Soccer program, where he donates time every Sunday to have fun with children with disabilities. He is a very well-liked person, and student, and really brings joy to everyone around him. ALL HAIL MR.HARRITY!

Trisha Lituri
Trisha should be crowned resident of the month because she is a fabulous roommate. Trisha is very involved here on campus being Class Treasurer for 2008 & a Senator. She also works on campus has a 20+ hour job off campus. Even though she is extremely busy she still makes time to play with her roommates. When any of us have had a rough day she doesn't hesitate to sing "My heart will go on" or go get Friendly's. She is also a delight in the morning.. even before having her daily large iced Honey Dew Coffee.

Dan Bryant
Dan Bryant should be resident of the month for his kindness and good nature. I currently share an apartment with Dan and I didn't know him before we moved in. Dan has become a great friend and always brings smiles to his roommate's faces.

Des Resident: Dear Greyhound,
Why is it so hot in this building, I was hoping it would get better in the winter but girls who lived her before said even in the winter the heat is up too high?!!?

Greyhound: Ruff Ruff!!! Hello!
The temperature in Des Hall varies depending on what floor you live on. As you know heat rises to the top and Des Hall does not have central air conditioning. Since we are experiencing an unusually warm fall season the temperature in the building has remained at a warmer level.

Once the cooler air from the winter finally sets in, the building heat will be activated. Alumni and Des are two of the most historical buildings on campus. As a result their heating system is a lot less flexible than some of the other areas on campus. These buildings are set to a certain temperature in order to accommodate everyone in the building. It takes several hours for the building to heat up and also cool down each day. This is why some residents may have reported hot spells in the winter, because quick changes can not be made to the temperature in Des.

Please keep your RA or RD informed about your concerns with the temperature of the building throughout the year. If a high volume of residents feel the same, then your RD can request that the college adjust the building temperature a few degrees. However, remember these changes will not be felt immediately.
