ALCOHOL AND DRUG EDUCATION
The Office of Alcohol & Drug Programs, as part of the Student
Development & Counseling Center, strives to educate the Assumption
College community to help students maintain abstinence or make low-risk
choices around alcohol and other drug use. Through campus-wide programming,

CALLS PROGRAM
The goal of the CALLS program is to support the transition of first
year students into the Assumption College community and connect students
to the many resources available to them on campus. During individual
and group meetings the CALLS program will assist students with goal
setting, portfolio development, and encourage their involvement in
campus life. As a result of their involvement in the CALLS program,
students will set a Personal Portfolio Plan with individual goals
and will begin to develop a portfolio that will grow over four years.
The portfolio development process will help with self-assessment
and career exploration. As students pursue opportunities such as
student leadership, volunteering, clubs/activities, and off-campus
experiences they will build confidence and a sense of connection
to the community.
CAMPUS
LIFE
CAREER SERVICES
As a gateway to the future, the goal of the Office of Career Services
(OCS) at the Student Development & Counseling Center is to support
the mission and goals of Assumption College through centralized services
that provide undergraduate students with the skills and knowledge
to develop their career and life-planning process. By working with
the OCS students will develop a lifelong attitude of inquiry, openness,
and social responsibility through partnerships with students, alumni,
administration, staff, the academic community, and employers. The
OCS believes that choosing a career that contributes to a life that
is rich and meaningful in content is an on-going process. Students
are encouraged to utilize the Center’s services throughout
their college years. Every effort is made to engage students in useful
programs including individual and group counseling sessions, classroom
and residential hall programming, special workshops and events, and
on-campus recruiting.
HEALTH SERVICES
Largely, the Student Community
Health Network has learned the importance of communication and how
to design their messages for the intent and understanding of varying
audiences. This group is largely composed of biological science majors
and often the “science” behind their message can cloud
one’s reception of it. The group has become quite adept at
health communication, particularly to various audiences, including
peers/superiors who support their mission; peers/superiors who challenge
their mission; as well as, peers/superiors who need to be educated
on their mission. Thinking objectively in their goals is also an “every
moment” part of their community advocacy and program development
JUDICIAL AFFAIRS
MULTICULTURAL AFFAIRS
The Office of Multicultural Affairs creates an environment for students
to network and seek resources that will maximize their chances for
successful academic and social development. OMA offers leadership
training and teach skills in managerial and communication to enable
students the ability to produce positive cultural programming and
events. OMA encourages leadership opportunities for students on campus
and in the local community to promote personal and intellectual growth.
RECREATIONAL SPORTS
We are committed to offering
safe and quality programs, facilities, equipment, and services to
enrich the Assumption College community learning experience. We strive
to foster a lifetime appreciation of, and involvement in, wellness
and recreational sports for our students, faculty, and staff. To
accomplish this goal, we offer diverse sports and fitness opportunities,
a distinctive facility, and student leadership opportunities.
RESIDENTIAL LIFE
As a member of our residential population, each student will learn
to appreciate the value of an inclusive residential community that
fosters individual growth and learning. They will learn their role
along with us in promoting a safe and supportive living environment
through their mutual respect for each other, the community and their
openness toward individual differences. They will learn to develop
themselves as leaders with a goal of individual success, while maintaining
their personal choices and accountability.
STUDENT ACTIVITIES
Through participation in the
programs and opportunities offered by the Department of Student Activities, students
are able to identify, practice and improve leadership skills to become
more effective leaders in college and beyond. By encouraging and
supporting various leadership opportunities, Student Activities
is able to assist students in becoming well-rounded independent thinkers with
strong moral and ethical reasoning skills. Through event
and program planning, leadership training, and involvement outside
of the classroom, students grow intellectually and socially.
All activities effectively complement their classroom learning.
