The club should be registered with the SGA
(Student Government Association) so that it may receive funds
to sponsor tournaments and other activities conducive to the
club. |

The Chess Club is established to provide any members of the
Assumption Community wishing to play chess a forum in which
to do so. Also, to teach basic understanding of the rules of
chess, for beginning players, as well as critical analysis of
the tactics of the game for more advanced players. |

The club is open to all students, faculty, and staff. |
4. |
There are three (5) positions available to students as officers
of the chess club: |

A. President – The President’s job is to coordinate
all tournaments and meetings and acquire the necessary funds
to host such events. |

B. Vice President - The Vice President’s job is to
aid the President in his matters and assist when necessary. |

C. Chess Czar - The Chess Czar's job is to help in deciding the game of the week, and to move the pieces in said game. |

D. Secretary of the Board - The Secretary of the Board's job is to make sure that the boards, clocks, and pieces are in working order. |

E. Treasurer – The Treasurer’s function is to
keep a record of all financial matters concerning the club and
informing the President and Vice President of how much money
is needed at any given time. S/he shall also appeal to the SGA Finance Committee for funds. |
5. |
Officers are elected through voting within the club at the
beginning of the academic year. |
6. |
Any modifications to this constitution can be made with an
agreement of consensus by the membership at any club meeting. |
