Renowned Spiritual Ensemble To Perform At Assumption College

November, 2002--- The HUMANARTS program presents a concert by the National Spiritual Ensemble on Saturday, November 9, 2002 at 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit.

The National Spiritual Ensemble (formerly the New England Spiritual Ensemble) is a group of conservatory trained professional singers who are exceptional communicators – their performances are captivating and totally engrossing, always involving the audience emotionally. The ensemble is devoted to “preserving the art and tradition of Negro spirituals” and is modeled after the classically trained Fisk Jubilee Singers who, in the late nineteenth century, enthralled Europe with their renditions of spirituals.

The concert is presented by HUMANARTS as part of Assumption College’s celebration honoring the three Assumptionist priests martyred in Sofia, Bulgaria, on November 11, 1952 and beatified by Pope John Paul II on May 26, 2002.
