Assumption College is host of African American Festival Kick-off


January 29, 2003—On Friday, January 31, 2003, Assumption College will welcome participants in the 6th annual African American Festival for an evening of native foods and music.

Tastes from the African Diaspora will feature traditional home cooked foods from African countries including Mahi-Mahi, Jamaican Jerk, Southern Ribs and Joffof Rice. Music for the evening will be provided by “Decades by Dezyne”, a dynamic group highlighting African American music from the 60s through the new century. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Hagan Campus Center Hall on the Assumption College Campus.

This event is the beginning of the African American Festival 2003, which is a two-day event featuring music, food, vendors, arts, and information. The second day will be held at Worcester State College from 11:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
