Assumption College Presents French Singer Jacques Yvart;
First Centennial Concert of the Series
November, 2003—Assumption
College is honored to have its first Centennial concert with French singer Jacques
Yvart, who is performing at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2nd, 2003 in the Auditorium
of La Maison Francaise. Born to a long line of sailing families on the French
seacoast in Dunqerque, Mr. Yvart makes the sea and sailing a central theme of
his popular folk songs. He travels widely to perform, and is known on U.S. campuses
as "The French Troubadour."
Assumption College, founded in 1904 by the Augustinians of the Assumption, offers
a Catholic liberal arts and sciences education to 2,000 undergraduates along
with programs for graduate and continuing education students.
In selecting our Centennial theme of ‘The Learning Relationship,’
Assumption College recommits itself to providing an intellectual, social and
spiritual environment supported by a committed faculty and staff. Our Centennial
began with commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the June 9, 1953 tornado
that devastated the original Assumption campus. The celebration continues through
December 2004, offering the College community and its guests a thoughtful series
of distinguished lecturers, performances and exhibits.
