| "Voices
of the Earth" Intergenerational Concert
November,
2004—The Assumption College Chorale will join with
the Salisbury Singers of Worcester and the Worcester Children's
Chorus of the Performing Arts School of Worcester in a collaborative,
intergenerational concert called "Voices of the Earth"
on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the
Holy Spirit. Tickets are $18.00; $15.00 for seniors.
This program will feature two works. "Crying for a Dream"
is a cantata for four choruses, based on words by Native American
Sioux, about the enduring values taught to us by the earth and its
wonders. Featured narrators will be Native Americans Charlene "Butterfly
Woman"Joubert and John "Gentle Hawk"Joubert.
The second work is the celebrated "Earth Mass/Missa Gaia"
by Paul Winter and members of the Paul Winter Consort. Integrating
world music with songs from the wild to celebrate the whole earth
as a sacred space, the "Missa Gaia" is a contemporary
Mass for the Earth featuring Chorus, Assumption student soloists,
jazz ensemble, and the voices of the tundra wolf, the humpback whale,
the harp seal, and the Russian loon.
