Lecture with Mary Robinson, Former President of Ireland
September,
2004—As part of the Centennial Lecture Series, Assumption
College will welcome Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland,
on October 6, 2004. Her lecture, entitled "Human Rights &
Ethical Globalization," will take place at 4:00 p.m. in the
Hagan Campus Center Hall.
Mary Robinson was elected the first female President of Ireland
in 1990, and served for seven years. In 1997, she was appointed
the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. An outspoken champion
of the oppressed, Robinson has challenged the governments of nations
large and small with her uncompromising criticism of their human
rights records.
