Ministry Holds First Faculty/Staff Retreat
January,
2005—On Saturday,
January 22, (before the blizzard hit central Massachusetts), 24
members of Assumption's faculty, staff, and administration gathered
to reflect on Assumption's motto: "Until Christ Be Formed In
You." The six-hour retreat took place at Oakhurst Retreat Center
in Whitinsville, MA, and included input from Fr. Dennis Gallagher,
AA, Vice President for Mission and Mary Driscoll of the Academic
Support Center.
Fr. Dennis' history of the motto, combined with Mary's more personal
reflection on how she integrates the motto into her daily life,
encouraged participants to think about the meaning of the motto
and how they can more fully integrate it into their daily work and
personal lives. Time for personal reflection, small group conversations,
and a large group discussion gave those who attended an opportunity
to connect with fellow Assumption colleagues in a more informal,
personal way.
Sponsored by the Office of Campus Ministry, the retreat was developed
after participants in the "How Can I Find God" lunch series
requested a retreat for members of Assumption's faculty, staff,
and administration.
