Ministry Panel Discussion: "The Challenge of Faithful Citizenship"
October,
2004—Assumption College's Office of Campus Ministry
will sponsor a panel discussion on the Presidential election and
Christian responsibility on October 19, 2004, from 7:30 p.m. to
8:30 p.m. in the Hagan Campus Center Hall. The panel will be entitled
"The Challenge of Faithful Citizenship: A Catholic Call to
Political Responsibility."
This panel will serve as
a followup to Assumption's College/Town Meeting event on October
5, 2004. Six panelists will focus their remarks on selected themes,
such as: life and dignity of the human person; a call to family,
community, and participation; dignity of work and the rights of
workers; and caring for God's creation. The panel will also serve
to educate students and help them to more fully understand their
Christian responsibility to vote with knowledge and integrity, based
on their belief in and living out of these Christian values and
principles.
The panel will be moderated by Rev. Dennis Gallagher, vice president
for Mission, and the panelists will include Rev. Barry Bercier,
lecturer in Theology; Stephanie McCaffrey, campus minister; Dr.
Kenneth Moynihan, professor of History; current students Keith Sullivan
'05 and Karen Whelan '05; and alumna Robyn Kennedy '03.
