Assumption Music Faculty Members to Perform at Popular Massachusetts Venues

Peter ClementeAugust, 2004—Two of Assumption College's music faculty are performing at Massachusetts concert venues in the upcoming weeks.

Peter Clemente, lecturer in music, will be featured in "An Evening of Classical Guitar" at the Summer Music Magic Plus Concert Series at the North Falmouth Congregational Church in North Falmouth, MA.
Clemente, an internationally acclaimed guitarist, will perform original compositions and a variety of classics. His accomplishments include live performances on WGBH in Boston and KPFK in Los Angeles, several tours throughout New England and the southwestern United States, and several awards, including the distinction of being the only guitarist to receive the prestigious Applied Music Award from the Hartt School of Music.

This performance will take place on August 7, 2004, at 7:30 p.m. at the North Falmouth Congregational Church.Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door, and $8 for students and those 18 and under. For more information, please call (508) 563-2177.
Jane Shivick

Jane Shivick, Assumption’s College's associate director of Chapel Music/director of Chapel Choirs/College Cantor, will sing at a WCRB Classical Concert in the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade in Boston on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. Shivick has actively pursued a career as a performer as featured soloist for Boston Civic Symphony, Indian Hill Symphony, and Boston College University Chorale, among many others. She has been featured on NPR, and has also made appearances on shows such as Classics in the Morning, 89.7 FM, and Live from Mechanics Hall. Jane is a National Winner in the Metropolitan Opera Auditions.

The performance at the Hatch Shell, which is free and open to the public, will be divided by an intermission. Accompanying Shivick will be the New Philharmonic Orchestra, who is known for keeping with their motto, “Music for All,” accommodating all audiences with classical and light classical pieces. Boston Symphony Orchestra’s Guest Conductor Ronald Knudsen, who has been involved with the Boston Symphony for 35 years, will conduct Shivick and the Philharmonia Orchestra. This will also be the second performance Knudsen and Shivick will give together in nine months.
