Assumptionists Celebrate 100 Years of Service in Worcester
November, 2003-
On Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at 5:00 p.m., the Augustinians of the Assumptionist
Community will celebrate one hundred years of service in Worcester with a Liturgy
of Thanksgiving in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit, on the Assumption College
campus. Following the Liturgy, there will be a reception in the Atrium of the
Richard and Janet Testa Science Center. The event is free and open to the public,
although an RSVP is requested.
During the reception, the Emmanuel d’Alzon Medal, recognizing “…persons
who have outstandingly exemplified in their lives the vision and guiding principles
of their Founder…” will be awarded to Marc A. LePain, Ph.D, Professor
of Theology and director of the Ecumenical Institute at the College. Previous
recipients of the d’Alzon Medal have included Bishop John J. Wright, 1959;
Danny Thomas, 1967; and Johannes Cardinal Willebrands, 1980.
