Assumption Helps in Time of Need
Worcester, MA - In response to the devastation brought upon New Orleans
and the Gulf Coast by Hurricane Katrina, Assumption College offers
a variety of support to the victims of this most unfortunate natural
disaster.
Both the Reach Out Center and Campus Ministry organized fundraising
efforts, with proceeds going to two respected relief groups. All
collections from the Sunday, September 4, 2005 Masses at the College’s
Chapel of the Holy Spirit were donated to the Sisters of Mercy to
benefit hurricane victims. Those collections totaled $2,793.
The Reach Out Center collected donations for the Red Cross.
Donations were collected through Wednesday, September 14 and more than $4,600 was raised. Overall, Assumption has helped raise over $7,000 for hurricane victims.
In addition, the College continues to work with college students
from the Gulf Coast area and their families who were displaced by
the hurricane and are seeking to enroll at Assumption for a semester
or longer. Both Undergraduate Admissions and the Dean of Studies
offices are prepared to help prospective transfer students on a
case-by case basis. The College will generously waive tuition fees
for such students for the Fall 2005 semester. For students interested

On a personal level, Mrs. Montgomery Plough, wife of Assumption
College president Dr. Thomas R. Plough, continues to assist in volunteer
activities in the Gulf Coast with the American Red Cross.
