September, 2004—Assumption College’s HUMANARTS
Series presents “A Gershwin Party” with artists Leon
Bates, LaRose Saxon, and Cedric Cannon. This event will take place
on Saturday, September 25, 2004 at 8:00 p.m. in the Atrium of the
Testa Science Center.
This trio will perform a rousing selection of Gershwin tunes from
the 1930s era. Bates, one of America’s favorite pianists,
has become a fixture on the international circuit, performing with
several European symphonies. Saxon, an acclaimed soprano, has showcased
her operatic talent on stages spanning the globe, from the United
States to Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. Cedric Cannon, a celebrated
baritone, made his Metropolitan Opera debut performing the role
of Robbins in their production of Porgy and Bess, and has
since toured Europe and Asia with several operas.
