Exhibit By Nancy Flanagan
September, 2004—Assumption College’s Department
of Fine Arts and Music is pleased to present an exhibition of recent
work by artist Nancy Flanagan, an associate professor of Studio
Art at the College. An opening reception will take place on Wednesday,
September 15, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the Testa Science Center Atrium,
and the show will continue throughout October.
The exhibition, entitled "Using Time Wisely," is the first
to be installed in the Testa Science Center since the building opened
in 2003. It will consist of Flanagan’s recent work, including
portraits, still lifes, and landscapes.
Flanagan, who is in her 20th year of teaching at Assumption College,
is an internationally recognized artist who has exhibited and taught
widely throughout the United States and Europe. Most recently, she
was featured in Zeuxis, a grassroots project dedicated to still
life painting. She describes her work as having grown out of the
American Modernist tradition that pays homage to European ideas,
while at the same time striving to retain a distinctly personal
and individual character.
