Step 1 in conducting an effective job search is developing career goals and a plan to achieve them. This workshop provides an overview of the self-assessment and goal-setting process, and how you can align that information with an exploration of the job market. Once you've examined both internal and external landscapes, you'll be better positioned to determine your career path and conduct an effective job search campaign. In the search for the ideal job, how do you set yourself apart from the hundreds of other jobseekers all vying for the same position? What are the chief skills, experience, and attributes that an employer is seeking in the "ideal" candidate? To entice an employer to consider your candidacy, you must view yourself as a product, and it's your job to “sell” what you can offer. Resumes and cover letters are your primary marketing tools, and their specific purpose is to win you an interview. In this workshop, you will learn how to maximize your skills and accomplishments, as well as other important tips, to write winning resumes and cover letters.
