Student Recreation Council (SRC)
Mission Statement
The Student Recreation Council (SRC) is an advisory committee comprised of student-leaders from the Assumption Community. The Student Recreation Council is dedicated to monitoring, improving, and promoting recreational sporting opportunities to the students, faculty and staff at Assumption College. Furthermore, the Council strives to enhance the effectiveness of the recreational programming, policies and procedures.
Membership
Shall consist of representatives from the following Campus Recreation areas: Control Desk, Office Staff, Intramurals, Lifeguards, the Recreational Sports Professional Staff, and any student whom wishes to join the council.

It is well worth the time committment. You will need to attend:
One night per month for about 1 hour or more

Officers / Board Member
The Officers shall consist of a president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. The duties and responsibilities covered by an individual member Officer shall be determined year to year.
1. The president shall preside over the meetings, representing the SRC to Assumption College
2. The vice-president shall accept responsibilities as assigned by the president and shall take over responsibilities in case of the president’s absence.
3. The secretary will document all suggestions, complaints, ideas brought up by any council member or the whole council. He/ she shall maintain minutes from all meetings and efficiently provide the Assistant Director of Recreational Sports with the minutes, to distribute to the council. The secretary/ treasurer will participate in all discussions and decisions relating to the Student Recreation Council.
4. Treasurer – He/she shall maintain a system of accounts and records of the council account book. He/she will participate in all discussions, decisions relating to the Recreational Sports Council.
Supervising staff working with the Student Recreation Council shall reside within the Assistant Director of Recreational responsibilities. He/ she shall assist in all organizational aspects of the SRC.
Voting for all meetings shall be open for all student staff to attend with notification to someone on the council. A majority of members present is needed to pass a motion of the business. In the event of an absent member, voting will be made during meetings with their absence. The Director and Assistant Director will have the ultimate say on issues brought up by the council.
Meetings will be held the last Monday of every month at 7:00pm in the Commuter Lounge Meeting Room. Other dates and times will be discussed as needed. All are welcome to attend, with prior notification.
The following are prospective duties, objectives and responsibilities for all Student Recreation Council members.
Duties/Objectives
- Survey-programs, facilities
- Feedback from participants
- Policy and procedure evaluation
- Leadership with peers
- Serve as Judicial Board for Recreational Sports Department issues
- Assist with training and in-services (CD’s, Office, LG and I.M’s)

Responsibilities include:
Promotion/Marketing
- Increase Campus Recreation coverage and campus awareness
- Coordinate with staff and other leadership positions to update information (master calendar)
Special Projects
- Voices for Children support staff September & Light Night Team
- Represent the Campus Recreation Department in leadership meetings and other departmental programs
- Assist developing and coordinating new, stimulating recreation sports opportunities
Facilities/Equipment
- Input on Risk Management plans
- Coordinate input on facility master punchlists / needs
Program Advisory Council
- Council President will lead the council meetings, with the advisor present to support and provide guidance
- Announce problems, concerns, and suggestions for upcoming events
- Assist in evaluations of Intramurals, Club Sports, Weekend Events and Instructional Programs
- Review fees, policies, procedures, facilities and goals for student input
- Assist in Intramural disciplinary procedures
Overall Council Objectives
- Announce / discuss problems, suggestions, or upcoming events at meetings.
- Review and address policies, facilities and goals.
- Represent the leaders in Recreational Sports, working with professional staff to provide the highest standards for all users, faculty, staff and administration at the Plourde Recreation Center and Assumption College.
- To review, discuss and advise all Campus Recreation Department Activities, policies, programs and risk management issues.
