Welcome Distance Students

The Library provides remote access to its electronic resources. This allows users to access the Library’s catalog, e-books and databases of journal articles from off campus. You will be asked to provide your Assumption College email login and password information in order to access these services.


Library Materials
Books
Use the catalog to find electronic and physical books available through the Library.

  • Use the Limit To option of "Online" to find electronic books. Click on the title, then on the link.
  • To request a physical book, contact the Library at 508-767-7135 or library@assumption.edu to request the item.
  • We will mail the book to you on a 30-day loan, to allow time for mailing.
  • Return the item at least one week before the due date.
  • You may find it easier and quicker to use your public llibrary.

Journal Articles

  • Search databases to find articles in scholarly journals, newspapers, and magazines.
  • If available, click on the full-text option.
  • If there is not a full-text option, click on Article Linker to look for an electronic version of the article in another database or a print version available in the library.
  • If the correct year, volume, and issue number is available in print, contact the library at 508-767-7135 or library@assumption.edu to request the article.
  • If the article is not available through the library, request a copy through Interlibrary Loan (see below.)
  • You may also use Find Journals to search for specific journal titles. This is a good place to start if you are looking for a specific article citation.  

Course Reserves
Your professor may post some of the readings for your course on reserve through the Library.  Search here for your course’s reserved readings.


Library Services

Interlibrary Loan

  • Use ILLiad, our interlibrary loan system, to request books or articles that are not available at d’Alzon Library. 
  • Articles and photocopies may be posted directly to your ILLiad online account.
  • Complete a “First Time User” form to create an account and generate your username and password.
  • Email the d'Alzon Library ILL Department or call 508-767-7135 with questions.

 

Reference
Reference librarians are here to support your learning and research, and welcome your questions.  We can teach you how to use the Library catalog and academic databases, as well as help you find relevant information the web.  Our normal reference hours are:

9:00 AM -- 3:00 PM
