Computer & Network Use Policies
Students who connect to the Assumption College Residential Network are asked to agree to the following End User Agreement before a connection can be successfully established. The agreement addresses the acceptable use of the campus network, responsibilites by users, and describes the security software that is provided for connecting to the residential network.
Network Security Notice: This network is protected by a Cisco NAC Appliance Agent, a component of the Cisco NAC Appliance Suite. The Agent ensures that your computer meets the requirements for accessing this network, and helps you keep your computer secure and up-to-date.
Please use the Agent to log in to the network.
Any computer that is being used to disrupt network services will be removed from the College computer network until the problem is resolved and / or a member of Information Technology determines that the computer is no longer a risk to network stability.
You are not allowed to independently deploy any network device that extends the campus network, or secure or isolate parts of the network, except authorized devices provided (or approved) by the IT Department. No wireless routers are allowed in ResNet.
Assumption College provides the required anti-virus software (McAfee) to all members of the student body. All computers should have the appropriate security patches provided by the operating system manufacturer (Microsoft, Apple etc.) Viruses and spy ware and other computer vulnerabilities seriously affect the stability of the Assumption College computer network.
If Assumption College is made aware of a violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) the computer will be disconnected from the campus network. Once the computer is in compliance (deleting the file, cease to share the file or removing the application) the computer will be allowed back on the network. The best way to avoid DMCA violations is to not use peer to peer (P2P) applications. Ignorance is not an excuse for any copyright infringement.
