Learning Resources

Assumption utilizes several learning management systems. For support, information about system updates, and additional information related to our learning resources, please see the Instructional Technology support page.

BlackBoard: Assumption College has selected BlackBoard as our default Learning Management System. All students receive a BlackBoard username and password at their orientation session. While each student’s BlackBoard username and password are identical to his/her email username and password, they are distinct and different. When a student changes her/his BlackBoard password (students cannot change their usernames), their email password does not change, and vice versa.

Professors utilize BlackBoard to post electronic files (syllabi, course outlines, assignments, etc.) and to update students on class progress.

iTunesU: Assumption has also partnered with Apple Inc. to provide access to iTunesU to provide podcasts with recorded course content. While this content usually take the form of recorded course lectures, it is also used by students to produce collaborative multi-media projects.

Clickers: Some of our computerized classrooms have access to clicker technology, which allows each student with a clicker to vote or offer an opinion on a question or group of questions. Professors utilize this technology to gauge student opinions, issue quizzes and increase student participation in the classroom.
