Director of the Chapel Choir, the Festival Choir, and the Student Cantor Program
Ray Yu is the newly appointed Associate Director of Music Ministry at Assumption College, where she conducts the student Chapel Choir, the Festival Choir, and directs the student cantor program. She holds the Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Organ Performance, as well as the Master of Music degree in Choral/Instrumental conducting from University of Missouri, Kansas City where she was a student of John Ditto (organ), and Eph Ehly and Gary Hill (conducting). She is currently completing the Doctor of Music in Choral Conducting at Boston University as a student of Ann Jones and David Hoose.
A native of Beijing, China, Ray Yu has held a number of church music positions in Colorado and Kansas since coming to the United States in 1993. She has recieved numerous scholarships, awards, and honors in conducting and organ performance and has been recognized for her outstanding teaching in Music Theory and Aural Skills.
She makes her home in Southbridge, MA where she is active at St. Mary's Parish, with her husband Brandon Vennink, and their three children, Johann, Katharine, and Anna. Assumption extends a warm welcome to Ray and her family as she begins her first year at the College.
