Matthew O'Connor Appointed

Director of Continuing & Career Education

We are pleased to announce that Matthew O’Connor joined Assumption as Director of Continuing & Career Education on December 1. Matt was affiliated with Massachusetts Bay Community College for eight years, most recently as Dean of Community and Corporate Education, and before that as Associate Dean and Director of Business and Industry. He was responsible for 12 evening degree programs and 14 certificate programs at the Wellesley Hills and Framingham campuses, as well as the development of external business relationships.  He has also taught as an adjunct instructor at both Mass Bay and other colleges. 

Matt began his career as an engineer, working first at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in New Hampshire, and then at Fitchburg Gas and Electric Light Company. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, and a Master’s in Engineering Management from Western New England College.

As Director of CCE, Matt will be responsible for all of the Division’s academic (degree and certificate) and community/business programs, as well as W.I.S.E., the Worcester Institute for Senior Education.

Matt lives in Belmont and is looking forward to meeting all of you in the coming weeks and months.
