Location: Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce
My primary responsibilities at the Chamber of Commerce are: to write articles for the website about past and upcoming events, to draft press releases for events and programs that the Chamber is hosting and to update the Chamber website.
I have developed a large portfolio of articles, press releases and other forms of business writing. It has been very fulfilling because I get to do work that I know is meaningful. The articles I write have been featured on the homepage of the Chamber’s website and the press releases that I write are sent out to all of the members.
Through working at the Chamber I have discovered the kind of working environment that I would like to be a part of in my career. The culture is very laid back and comfortable at the Chamber. I feel very little pressure from my supervisor or my co-workers because they are all very helpful and treat me like an equal.
Working at the Chamber of Commerce also has its perks. We host many events that involve breakfasts, lunches and dinners and I have also had the opportunity to hear speeches by Andrew Card, former Chief of Staff for President George W. Bush, and Jonathan Kraft, president of the New England Patriots. Because of events like these, my internship experience is an excellent blend of work and great networking opportunities.
