At the Worcester Business Journal
Name: Mary Awad
Hometown: Norwood, MA
Expected Year of Graduation: 2010
Internship Sponsor: Worcester Business Journal (WBJ)
As a Sales and Marketing intern at the Worcester Business Journal, I am assigned various tasks on a daily basis. My primary responsibilities include: setting up events, collecting data and data entry, researching, making up media kits for potential sponsors, mailings, and attending events for the Journal.
The Worcester Business Journal is a welcoming environment that allows me to view marketing and event planning at a real company. I have learned to manage my time effectively due to the set of tasks that I need to complete each day.
When it comes to big events the WBJ sponsors, such as 40 CEO’s under the age of 40, The Mass Energy Summit, The Business Expo, and Women in Business, work becomes hectic and it’s very busy in the office. Being part of the production for these events allows me to see how much effort and time is actually put into hosting an event. Everyone in the office, whether they are publishers or in the marketing sector, come together to help set up for these huge events that attract people from all over Massachusetts, especially central Massachusetts.
Although the days prior to hosting the events can be crazy and stressful, seeing the end result and how much the attendees appreciate the time and effort I put in is a great feeling. I enjoy being part of this production.
