At a Worcester Sharks game
Name: Emily Collins

Major: Management
Expected Year of Graduation: May 2010
Internship Sponsor: Worcester Sharks American Hockey League (AHL)
Primary Responsibilities:
As a community relations intern for the Worcester Sharks, I help engage local communities in the Worcester Sharks’ experience. I have participated in the “Be a Leader” Community Service Day which physically upgrades the inside and outside of a local elementary school. Our team gathered together to do yard work, painted an alphabet mural, updated the basketball courts by repainting the lines and replacing the hoops. We also created a new walkway at the entrance of the school.
There are many other programs such as “Be a Leader,” which promotes healthy living to children in grades four through six, and “Reading is Cool,” which is a literacy program available to children in grades kindergarten through first grade throughout Central MA. I assist Finz, the Worcester Sharks’ Mascot, on some of his community events.
This organization has taught me the importance of working as a team member to accomplish goals within time constraints. All our games must start on time!
