Interning with the Assumption College Office of Institutional Advancement.
Name: Lauren Rempelakis
Hometown/State: Marlborough, MA
Minor: Graphic Design
Internship Sponsor: Institutional Advancement, Assumption College
My primary responsibilities as a management intern are:
- Advertising on social media sites that I created for the Senior Class of 2014 gift.
- Attending weekly meetings with members of the Senior Class Gift Committee.
- Entering data on Excel about seniors’ information and gifts provided by Assumption College alumni.
The Institutional Advancement Office comprises Annual Giving, Alumni Relations, Advancement Services, Research, and Advancement Officers. The duties of each of these departments are to develop meaningful relationships with alumni and seek donations to the College.
My internship has given me hands-on professional experience in a job environment. I have applied management and organizational concepts by being involved in the planning for Alumni Weekend and the Colleen Ritzer Walk, and strategizing how to raise money for the senior class gift. I understand why it is so important for seniors, as well as alumni, to give back to the school. It is important because alumni contributions go towards physical improvements and academic programming which make the school more beneficial for students, and towards scholarships, which could be the determining factor of many prospective student in their decision to attend Assumption.
