  • Learn the organizational processes within the Human Resources Department
  • Update policies and procedures


Blog Entry:

UMass Medical School is committed to improving medical care through education and research in order to improve the quality of life for their patients. It is the job of Human Resources to ensure the hiring of qualified and competent employees – ranging from janitorial jobs to lab research doctors.


Interning at UMass Medical School has given me valuable experience in a professional work environment, while also teaching me specific qualities employers look for in candidates for jobs. I have been lucky enough to work in many of the functions within the department, including: talent acquisition, compensation, and benefits. I have had the opportunity to meet with each person in the department individually to learn about their specific responsibilities and projects.


I work with an excellent team who constantly asks my opinion on specific problems and ideas. For example, they asked my opinion about the best way to implement new recruiting procedures and policies for interns and volunteers. I have been fortunate to feel engaged in my HR internship with UMass Medical School.
