Blog Entry:
The Admissions Office is the first place many juniors, seniors, and even sophomores, from high school across the many territories of America see when making their first visit to campus. First impressions, communication and presentation skills are vital to making every student’s visit a memorable and impressive one. Choosing one’s “dream college” is very stressful and it is the job of Assumption’s admissions counselors to make the choice easier and to diminish the stress. As an intern, I strive to make this possible for every student by contributing to the tasks that involve reading applications, gearing up for our two Accepted Students Day, and as well as offering a welcoming smile to all our Greyhound for a Day students.

I have found my niche through this internship. I have expanded my interpersonal and representation leadership skills that I acquired through my education classes which taught me how to effectively present and communicate. At our Early Action Accepted Students Day, I welcomed families as they made their way through the snow. I was also able to make a farther connection than just reading a name and information on an application. I was able to meet and speak with students who are outstanding leaders, athletes, musicians, and others who have pulled through difficult life struggles.

Learning something new is always part of my day at the Admissions Office. I have learned new technical skills, as well as to express my innate qualities that allow me to pursue my interest in a career in a successful higher education setting.
