Frequently Asked Questions
Q. When will I hear all the details of Reunion Weekend?
A. You will receive several messages from your classmates and the Alumni Association: a Save the Date letter/refrigerator magnet went out in October; a Class Gift letter in December; a Happy New Year postcard in January; a telephone call from your Reunion Committee in February; a letter in March with your Reunion Directory; the Registration Brochure with full details in April; and a “full-court press” in May to sign people up! Please contact the Alumni Office if you do not receive them.
Q. What is planned for Reunion Weekend?
A. There is a tentative schedule of events for Reunion Weekend at http://www.assumption.edu/alums/Reunion. (Locations and times are subject to change.) All activities will be finalized in the spring – please check the Web site frequently.

Q. How do I let Alumni Relations and my classmates know that I am attending the Reunion?
A. Once you receive the Registration Brochure in the spring, please sign up quickly – either by mail or online at www.assumption.edu/alums/Reunion. We will also have a spot on the Web site – under your Class Year – where we will post names of those attending from your Class.
Q. Where do I check-in for Reunion Weekend?
A. Registration will be in the Plourde Recreation Center – all weekend. We ask that this be your first stop. We will provide you with your registration packet, including nametags, an updated schedule of events and locations, event tickets and residence hall keys (if you are staying on campus). Registration/Check-in is open: Friday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Q. Is parking available?
Parking is available free of charge for alumni. No parking is permitted in indicated handicapped or service areas. You must display handicapped parking permits, if applicable.
Q. Are there special services available for attendees with disabilities?
A. If you or your guest have any special needs (physical and dietary), please notify the Alumni Relations office at (508) 767-7223.
Q. Will there be child-care available?
A. We do not provide childcare services. Children do not typically attend the evening events but always enjoy the Family Barbecue and Gym & Swim on Saturday. We suggest you bring your favorite babysitter with you.
Q. What should I wear?
Dress for the weekend is casual. During the day many reunioners wear shorts and polo shirts. Evening dress for class dinners is generally slacks for men and casual chic for women. The weather can be unpredictable in early June so you may want to bring shorts as well as pants and sweaters.
Q. Are there any new residence halls we can stay in?
A. Overnight accommodations are a lot of fun and will be available ON CAMPUS in our new, suite-styled, private-bathed, residence halls! Reunioners will be housed in the Living/Learning Center. LLC is an air-conditioned accommodation suite-style, private-bath accommodation. (Class of 2003 dorm TBD.)
Send names of requested roommates with paid reservation.
If no request is received, a roommate will be assigned.
We supply: Sheets, pillowcases, towels, blankets, soap and an opportunity for you to reconnect with old friends and network with new friends!
Please note that a special residence hall will be reserved for the Class of 2003 and may be asked to bring their own bedding.
Q. Why did you send the Data forms?
A. We sent those so we would have the correct information to produce your Class Directory.
Q. What is the Class Directory?
A. In order to help you re-connect with your classmates and friends, we compile an updated Class Directory with your name, address, telephone numbers, e-mail, spouse and children. Please make sure you mail back your Data Verification Form by December 15 so the Class Directory—mailed in early spring—is up to date.
Q. When will the Class Directory be mailed?
A. It will be mailed in early spring.
Q.What should I bring?
A. Consider the following:
- A bathing suit for a dip in the Plourde Recreation Center swimming pool, an alarm clock and your enthusiasm!
- Please bring your digital cameras and e-mail us your photos after the event so we can post on your reunion Web site for all to share.
- If you are staying on campus in one of the suites, there are refrigerators in LLC (no coffemakers, toasters or toaster ovens) – if you wish to stock it with some snacks and beverages…
Q. How do I get the Early Bird Special?
A. You can save if we receive your Registration Form on or before the May 23, 2008 deadline. Details will be in the Reunion Brochure mailed in April.
Q. Why should I sign up early?
A. Besides the cost savings? As most of you know, details are abundant in planning these types of events. In order for us to continue to make this as cost efficient as possible, the caterers and building and grounds departments need final numbers as early as possible. Please help us by getting your reservations in early. Thank you.
Q. What is there to do around Worcester?
A. There are a number of great things to do in Worcester, including golf, Museums, Theatre, etc. (brochures will be available at Registration). Visit www.worcester.org for a complete listing.
Q.Where can I plug in my laptop?
A. There are wireless open ports in Charlie's, in the Hagan Campus Center.
Q. Will my cell phone work on campus?
A. The College has T-Mobile, Verizon and Cingular towers, other service may be limited.
Q. How much do alumni usually give for their Class Gift?
A. When a class celebrates a reunion, classmates are encouraged to participate in the Reunion Class Gift (a gift to the Annual Fund or another College priority such as the multi-sport stadium). Reunion Classes strive for 40-50% class participation - some come in even higher! Past donors are encouraged to consider increasing their usual gift and those who have not given in recent years are asked to participate with a gift of any size to increase the participation level. The aim is to present the College with a Reunion Class Gift that reflects the enthusiasm of the class and their affection for Assumption College. Every gift—no matter what size—counts toward class participation! Reunion gifts may be made online by visiting www.assumption.edu.
